RECORD FFA CUP CROWD ATTEND MATCH FOR A CAUSE

Over 700 people packed into Ian McLennan Park for the FFA Cup clash between Albion Park City and Coniston on Wednesday evening.

Congratulations to Coniston who were worthy winners, they now progress to the fourth round of the competition.

The night was a drawcard occasion thanks to the tireless work of Albion Park City's Adrian Arciuli who encouraged former Socceroos captain Craig Foster to come out of retirement to raise money and awareness for a worthy cause.

On the night, nearly $10,000 was raised via gate takings, a raffle, an auction and sponsors contributing money for every minute Foster remained on the park (he played the entire match). These proceeds will go towards local refugee organisations Mums 4 Refugees and SCARF.

Football South Coast and South Coast United were proud to host the event on the newly upgraded synthetic pitch after the match was moved due to the recent inclement weather.

In addition to the 700 people in attendance, the match was live streamed on Facebook and Youtube to some 24,000 viewers.

Thank you to everyone involved last night, it was an incredible showcase of the Illawarra football community.
