AYL: ROUND 3 REVIEW

We hosted Macarthur F.A. on Sunday at Ian McLennan Park following the wash out of most games last Saturday. It was a terrific day for our boy's teams who fared well against our northwest neighbours.

Under 13: Football South Coast 10-0 Macarthur F.A.

The young lads proved far too strong for the visitors this week as they made it back to back wins to thrust themselves up the competition table. They started brightly with a couple of early goals as they took the game by the neck. Even though the goals kept coming, the boys were a little erractic with their distribution. We saw some good improvement in the second half as the youngsters managed to take their game up a notch showing good poise and control as they scored another six goals in the second half.

It was a good team performance and we were delighted to see some very unselfish play where we created a host of other chances.

Under 14: Football South Coast 3-1 Macarthur F.A.

In a game of two halves, it was Macarthur who took the lead in the first half. Our boys were unable to find rythem and consistency with the first half plagued by cheap turnovers and poor decision making in the front third.

To their credit, the boys came out firing in the second half and it wasn't long before they found an equaliser which seemed to be a turning point as alll of a sudden, it was FSC who started to look threatening. The players moved the ball swiftly around the park as numerous more scoring opportunities were created.

The boys managed to find the go-ahead goal midway through the second half and when we added a third, there was only ever going to be one winner.

Under 15: Football South Coast 2-2 Macarthur F.A.

In what was a bit of a theme for our AYL teams today, the 15 boys also started slowly. They looked a little lethargic with and without the ball for much of teh first half and Macarthur went into the break deservedly 1-0 up.

The boys regrouped and put on a lot better performance in the second half. It was the visitors though that doubled the lead early before two goals from FSC inside 12 minutes evened things up. Chances at both ends towards the end but a draw perhaps a fair result in the end.

Under 16: Football South Coast 2-3 Macarthur F.A.

Our boys never really got going in this one. The visitors pressed hard and forced ample turnovers. Their intensity was higher than ours and subsequently, we found ourselves 3-1 down at the break.

The boys showed a bit more character in the second half and were able to maintain more possession which un turn led to more chances. Macathur were holding firm as their midfield and back four looked to repel everything we had thrown at them.

We managed to grab a goal late to bring us to within one however it wasn't to be as we fell 2-3 to Macarthur who jump to second spot.

The AYL teams travel to Harrie Denning Centre next week to take on Sutherland who are in the top two in each grade.
