AYL | GCL | ROUND REVIEW

It was our first full competitive round where both Association Youth League (AYL) and Girls Conference League (GCL) both played on the same weekend. Both sets of teams were away to Sutherland and Dunbar respectively.

ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEAGUE | Under 13 Boys | Sutherland 2 - 1 Football South Coast
We can consider ourselves a little unlucky in this one. We started slowly and were punished for it inside the opening 10 minutes before we really got going. As the game wore on, we started to come to grips with the pitch and conditions however we went into the break a goal down.

We feel that we were the better side in the second half and put Sutherland under pressure regularly however as chances fell by the wayside, we were caught on the hop through a quick counter that put us two down.

To the boy's credit, they kept pushing and were finally rewarded with a goal however it was perhaps too little too late. As time expired, we were left ruing the chances missed in that second half.

Player of the week - Imen Tarah for working hard to understand what is required of his role and a great attitude at training.

ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEAGUE | Under 14 Boys | Sutherland 1 - 0 Football South Coast
Whilst we appeared to shade possession on the slick Sutherland synthetic pitch, we could only must up a couple of chances through the whole match. In fact, there were only five shots on goal from both sides in total indicating just how difficult the conditions had become.

It was a frustrating afternoon where we looked to have had players in all the right places and built possession well however a goal to the hosts looked to knock the stuffing out as we struggled in the last third.

Player of the week - Jacob Carney for his committment to understanding weekly tasks and his application of tactics on field.

ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEAGUE | Under 15 Boys | Sutherland 3 - 1 Football South Coast
After a solid week on the training pitch, our boys looked up for this game which we started as underdogs. Sutherland though were not taking us lightly and put us in the back foot right from the outset as they scored a tap in after a terrific freekick was well saved but only parried into the path of any oncoming attacker.

Our boys seeemed to settle after that early set back as we started to maintain some possession of our own however the Sutherland defence showed why are top of the league by repelling everything we threw at them. In fact, as good sides do, they turned defence into attack quickly and punished us with two well taken goals as we faced a 3-0 deficit at the break.

We managed to tighten a few things up in the second half and whilst we managed to score, it was not enough as the hosts took the game 3-1. The positive is that we won the second half and we will be looking to take that momentum into next week.

Player of the week - Matthew Gazivoda for making numerous outstanding saves and provided great voice and intensity all week.

ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEAGUE | Under 16 Boys | Sutherland 0 - 0 Football South Coast
Following last week's loss, the coaching staff were looking for a reaction from the players againgst high flying Sutherland. The home side looked hungry early on and a combination of desperate defending and great goalkeeping kept the game scoreless during the first period.

The conditions worsened in the second half as a howling wind made life difficult for both sides. As a result, there were only two good chances in the second half both of which fell to Sutherland however goalkeeper Luke Mack was having a super day repelling everything.

In the end, the game finished scoreless and perhaps a better resulst for FSC than it was for Sutherland as we grabbed our first points of the new season againgst the league leaders.

Player of the week - Luke Mack for a much improved performance at training and game day where he made four wonderful saves to earn his team a point.

GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE | Under 14 Girls | Dunbar Rovers 0 - 4 Football South Coast
The game started at a frenetic pace with both sides out to start the season strongly. There was some fast flowing attacking football in the wide areas from both sides however it was Demi Gay who scored first for FSC after she headed home a wonderfully floated corner kick.
Our girls continued attacking the Dunbar goal and the pressure was rewarded when Caley Tallon Henniker scored two goals before the break. Henniker secured her hat trick early in the second half as the girls cruised to a 4-0 win. Overall, it was an impressive start to the season.

Player of the week - Caley Tallon-Henniker for her exellent attacking play in wide areas and devastating in one on one situations. She secured a hat-trick in an amazing all round performance.

GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE | Under 15 Girls | Dunbar Rovers 0 - 3 Football South Coast
The result perhaps flattered the hosts a little as FSC dominated this match from start to finish. There were some effective combinations both out wide and in the central areas which led to all three goals.

Isabella Zipparo scoring a brace with Holly Penning who played up an age nabbing the other. The girls are thrilled with their start and with room for improvement, this bodes well for the season ahead.

Player of the week - Caitlyn Zamuner for her excellent application and effort both at training and at game. She showed a great understanding of her tactical objectives which were set for her on game day.

GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE | Under 17 Girls | Dunbar Rovers 1 - 1 Football South Coast
It was a relatively timid start to the game with neither side really creating any real clear cut chances early on. The game however bust into life following a spectacular long range effort from Dunbar who soared into the back of the net.

Stun by the set back, our girls responded well and stayed disciplined not allowing themselves to become desperate to score. This patience paid off as we managed to get the equaliser just before half time.

Whilst we were on the front foot for the majority of the second half, Dunbar held firm and we were unable to break them down despite some desperation as time ticked by. We've had to settle for a draw.

Player of the week - Sariah Wilson who stepped up in leadership over the past week. She showed great improvement during training recognising moments to attack and when to be disciplined and hold shape.
