FSC FFA CUP ROUND 4 PREVIEW

Match 73 - Tarrawanna Blueys vs Rydalmere Lions

@ Cawley Park 7.30 pm Wednesday 10 April

Tarrawanna return to Cawley Park for their round four match against Rydalmere Lions who sit mid-table in the NPL 2. The Blueys thumped seven goals past North Sydney United at the same venue a fortnight ago and in the time since they have secured a couple of narrow Illawarra Premier League wins.

Rydalmere are in a bit of a rut at the moment with a defeat followed by back-to-back draws, however, they will be confident of getting the job done against a Tarrawanna side who they beat 5-1 in a trial match way back in January.

Match 77 - Dulwich Hill vs Wollongong Olympic

@ Valentine Sports Park No.2 7.30 pm Wednesday 17 April

Illawarra Premier League leaders Wollongong Olympic take NPL 3 outfit Dulwich Hill in what could prove to be an even contest. Olympic did enough to beat Randwick City in the previous round while they are one of two Premier League sides remaining with perfect records after they made light work of Albion Park White Eagles on Sunday.

Dulwich Hill are second in the NPL 3 though they lost 3-2 to SD Raiders over the weekend. They knocked off Woongarrah Wildcats 4-0 in the previous round.

Match 87 - Western NSW Mariners vs University of Wollongong

@ Proctor Park 7 pm Wednesday 10 April

University face a tricky test over the Blue Mountains on Wednesday night against NPL 3 outfit Western NSW Mariners. The Students overcame Leeton United and Gladesville Ravens in the previous two rounds while they sit fourth in the District League despite being the competition’s top scorers.

The Mariners have lost their opening four matches of the season leaving them at the foot of the NSW third division, though, they did beat North Rocks 4-0 to progress to this stage.

Match 90 - Woonona Sharks vs GHFA Spirit

@ Ian McLennan Park 7.30 pm Wednesday 10 April

Woonona will go into Wednesday night’s clash against GHFA Spirit as outsiders with the visitors currently leading the NPL 2 with four wins from six. The Sharks wrestled past Blacktown Workers in the previous round and had a solid 2-0 win over Port Kembla in the Illawarra Premier League on Saturday which should do wonders for the side’s confidence.

Spirit may be leading the NPL 2, however, they lost their last match against Bonnyrigg White Eagles after drawing with Macarthur Rams - two teams sitting in the bottom half of the table.

Match 92 - Kemps Creek United vs Wollongong United

@ Bill Anderson Reserve 7.30 pm Wednesday 10 April

Wollongong United travel to Sydney’s west to face Kemps Creek United who compete in the Southern Districts SFA Premier League. Wollongong knocked out Fairfield Lions and Old Barker in the previous two rounds, however, they come into this match on the back of two straight defeats.

Kemps Creek beat Revesby Rovers 4-1 in the previous round and they compete in the same competition as Fairfield who kept Wollongong scoreless over two first halves (due to a match abandonment).

Match 93 - Western Condors vs South Coast Flame

@ Chopin Park 7.30 pm Thursday 11 April

South Coast Flame seized a victory from the jaws of defeat in the previous round to beat Fernhill and now they travel to Plumpton to take on State League rivals Western Condors.

Condors sit a place behind Flame in the NSW fourth tier despite smashing them 7-0 in the opening round. This is down to back-to-back wash outs while South Coast have picked up a win over Gazy Auburn and a creditable draw against Nepean. Condors also thumped Norwest 7-1 in the previous round.

Match 94 - Coledale Waves vs Manly Allambie United

@ Ian McLennan Park 7.30 pm Tuesday 9 April

Coledale drew another home tie out of the hat after beating Budgewoi 3-1 in the previous round with the Waves now taking on Manly Warringah FA side Many Allambie United. Coledale will go into the match at Ian McLennan Park on the back of a 6-0 win over Thirroul in the opening round of the Community League.

United overcame Greenacre Eagles 4-2 in the third round while they have drawn their only match so far in their local second division competition.

Match 97 - Dunbar Rovers vs Wollongong Wolves

@ Hensley Athletic Field 7.30 pm Wednesday 10 April

Wollongong Wolves who are flying high at the top of the NPL 1 visit NPL 3 side Dunbar Rovers on Wednesday night for a match. This is Wolves first match of this season’s FFA Cup and Luke Wilkshire’s side will be confident of a strong result after beating Sydney Olympic 2-0 on Sunday.

The Rovers smacked Macquarie Dragons 7-1 in the previous round though their form in the NSW third division is patchy with the side sitting in seventh with three draws from their opening five matches.

Match 98 - Gerringong Breakers vs Sutherland Sharks

@ Ian McLennan Park 8.30 pm Tuesday 16 April

After a tough 2-1 win away to Woy Woy in the previous round, Gerringong must have been hoping for a gimme fourth round draw. A gimme they did not get with the Breakers drawing NPL 1 side Sutherland who despite losing their last four matches and sitting rock bottom of their competition will be overwhelming favourites in this match.

Gerringong made their Football South Coast debut on the weekend in the Community League where they accounted for United Wolves 5-1. Miracles have happened before in the FFA Cup...

Match 99 - Coniston vs West Ryde Rovers

@ JJ Kelly Park 7.30 pm Wednesday 10 April

Coniston’s fourth FFA Cup match ever will be their first against a side outside of the Illawarra with the club drawing Gladesville Hornsby FA side West Ryde Rovers. Coniston knocked out Albion Park City 6-0 in the previous round while they picked up their opening Illawarra Premier League win over the weekend beating Cringila Lions 3-1.

West Ryde needed penalties to overcome Sutherland FA side Gymea United in round three while their first match in their local Premier League was a 4-0 home defeat against Normanhurst.

Match 104 - Sydney CBD vs Bulli

@ Heffron Field 5 7 pm Tuesday 9 April

Illawarra Premier League champions Bulli travel to the centre of Sydney to take on Sydney CBD who they beat 5-0 in the third round of the 2017 FFA Cup. Bulli were comfortable enough in the previous round defeating Wyoming 5-1 while two solid wins sandwiching a draw in the Premier League indicates good form.

CBD beat Arncliffe Aurora 2-1 in round three while they kicked off their local league season on the weekend with a 4-2 defeat to Dunbar Rovers (ESFA Dunbar Rovers not NPL 3 Dunbar Rovers).
