AYL | GCL | ROUND REVIEW

It was a terrific weekend for the club almost doing a clean sweep in both boys and girls association programs. We were also up against opposition that historically has been very competitive which suggests we are progressing well. Let's take a closer look at the matches.

ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEAGUE | Under 13 Boys | Football South Coast 3-0 Southern Districts
It was an important three points for the boys as they consolidate their position in the top four. The boys created numerous chances in the first half but a combination of bad luck, good defending and good goalkeeping kept the boys at bay for the majority of the half.

The boys seemed a little more relaxed after getting the opening goal and they continued to pepper the opposition goal resulting in two more goals to round out a solid 3-0 win to open the day.

Player of the week - Cassidy Mar had a super attitude and worked hard at training all week. He showed great improvement in the game this week.

ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEAGUE | Under 14 Boys | Football South Coast 5-1 Southern Districts
The boys looked to forget about last week as they took to the field with a positive mindset. It was a cracking start as the boys scored inside the opening two minutes. Countless opportunities went begging for the remainder of the half as Southern Districts were just hanging in there.

The boys seemed to find their composure in the second half and in a short six minute spell early in the second half, the boys cracked the game wide open scoring three consecutive goals to effectively put the game to bed and whilst both sides managed another goal each, it was great to see the boys round this week off with a strong result.

Player of the week - Felix Cohen showed strong committment to training and applied tactical instructions throughout his game play.

ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEAGUE | Under 15 Boys | Football South Coast 6-0 Southern Districts
This was a game the boys were expected to win and they did the job. The boys were ruthless in front of goal as Southern Districts found it difficult to contain the waves of attack from the home side. The score was perhaps fitting given the domination of the game however credit to Southern Districts who continued to battle all day game.

The boys showed no mercy as they looked to boost their goal difference which has catapulted them to third spot.

Player of the week - Jayden Makowski continues to lead and drive his team at training and he scored a hat-trick that consisted three absolute quality finishes.

ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEAGUE | Under 16 Boys | Football South Coast 1-0 Southern Districts
These guys have been a little inconsistent so far this season and whilst the talent is there, they haven't quite hit their straps this year.

This was evident in the first half as they boys continued to cough up possession in crucial areas resulting in unnecssary turnovers and half chances to Southern Distrcits. The boys were creating chances however that crucial finish or final pass was just off a little.

The bioys had to settle for a scoreless draw last week and it looked much the same again this week however a free kick late in the game saw Capocchiano unmarked finish from close range to break the deadlock. It turned out to be the winner and it was a relief the boys have their first win of the season.

Player of the weekKyle Capocchiano lifted his workrate at training and it paid off on game day as he got what turned out to be the winning goal.

GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE | Under 14 Girls | Football South Coast 1-2 Camden Tigers
The girls started the game trying to play quality football and had share of possession early in the game. Camden seemed to adapt better though to the soft grass pitch as they used it to their advantage with a couple of balls over the top of the defence which held up for their pacey striker who was able to convery one of those chances. Camden really took it to our girls and they were winning the midfield battle for the majority of the first half.

The girls never really got going despite having had a few opportunities go begging. They were punished for their inability to finish with Camden doubling their advantge with just 15 minutes to go. We managed to pull a goal back through Demi Gay who slotted home inside the last 10 minutes to give the girls some hope but it was too little too late as the girls suffered their first loss of the season.

Player of the week - Kellie McIntrye had a strong week at training and showed great composure in defence on game day.

GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE | Under 15 Girls | Football South Coast 4-0 Camden Tigers
Both teams found the lush Unanderra Oval surface a little difficult to adjust to and the first goal was always going to be important. When Piper Cowan latched on to a super pass by Monique Koloski, our girls found themselves one up at the break.

The girls stepped up their intensity and had Camden on the back foot for the majority of the second half. This domination resulted in three more goals to round off a solid 4-0 win. Cowan managing a hat-trick whilst Angelica Barraza got the other goal.

Player of the week - Piper Cowan trained with heightened intensity this week and her execution of the game day strategy led to her securing a hat-trick.

GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE | Under 17 Girls | Football South Coast 6-1 Camden Tigers
The game started with both sides looking to get on the front foot. FSC appeared to have the better of the early chances and on 12 minutes, we opened the scoring through a mazy Holly Johnstone run where she skipped past three defenders and fired into the roof of the net.

This was followed by a devastating spell where we netted twice in a few minutes to break open the game. Niki Butkovic's cross found Angelica Barraza who needed two goes at it before finishing and it was Butkovic again with a great ball to find Maddie Elmir who slipped the ball past the keeper to make it three.

Sariah Wilson made it four with a well placed free kick just before half time as FSC were in cruise control.

The second half proved a little less frenetic as the heat and ground conditions seemed to sap much of their energy. FSC did in fact get a fifth through Iluka Budai with a neat finish. Both teams scored a goal each late in the game to round off a comprenhensive 6-1 win.

Player of the week - Brianna Newton adapted to training brilliantly and translated it into the game.
