AYL | GCL | ROUND REVIEW

Our teams took to the road last weekend with the boys away to St George FA and the girls travelling to Popondetta Park taking on Mt Druitt Rangers.

ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEAGUE | Under 13 Boys | St George FA 0-3 Football South Coast
The 13’s completed a convincing 3-0 victory with a great team performance. After a slow start where they failed to create enough space to play, the boys finally got on the scoreboard ticking midway through the half after some good pressure forced a turnover.

The boys managed to take the game by the scruff of the neck when they scored again just 10 minutes later. A wonderful free kick from out wide saw the St George defence fail to deal with it effectively and the boys punished them from close range.

The boys took control of the game and the moved the ball brilliantly and created numerous chances from many combinations and switching the play to great effect. The boys managed to secure a third as reward for their enterprise and power on to a solid win.

Player of the weekHarry Taylor worked hard at training on his distribution, passing and showed great communication and leadership in the match.

ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEAGUE | Under 14 Boys | St George FA 3-2 Football South Coast
The boys were left a little disappointed in their performance over the weekend. Whilst they maintained good possession and managed to play some impressive football, they were defeated by a very fast attacking line from St George.

The boys deserved something out of the game however the boys learned just how cruel this game can be when they conceded a goal with virtually the last kick of the game to go down 2-3.

Player of the weekZach Birch for his continued effort throughout every aspect of training and dedicating his actions during game day.

ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEAGUE | Under 15 Boys | St George FA 0-12 Football South Coast
The boys were sitting top of the table coming into this match and were determined to keep it that way.

From the outset, the boys showed intent and played the game with a great intensity. Goals flowed as the opposition was unable to contain the constant threats which came from all over the park.

James Jovanovski helping himself to 4 goals whilst Jayden Makowski bagged a double. Isaac Ball, Dane Corolla, Josh Franco, Dane Merola, Ronan Mezedi and Kyle Ristevski all also got themselves on the scoresheet in what ended up quite a one-sided game.

Player of the weekJames Jovanovski showed a great attitude and effort at training. His worked hard to improve his effectiveness throughout the game resulting in a solid contribution of four goals.

GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE | Under 14 Girls | Mt Druitt Rangers 2-3 Football South Coast
The girls started strong moving the ball well in possession thus creating a number of early chances sadly with no end product.

As happens in football, the home side hit the front totally against the run of play with a long ball catching the girls off guard and their pacey striker finishing her chance well. FSC responded swiftly after Jelena Radic’s weaved past two defenders before unleashing a 25-metre effort which sailed over the keeper and into the back of the net.

The game ebbed and flowed with both sides having spells of possession before a well worked move down the left saw Demi Gay finish coolly past the keeper to put the girls in front just before half time.

FSC continued attacking through various different channels and their effort was rewarded when Gay scored her second of the match following a goal mouth scramble to put FSC 3-1 in front.

Mt Druitt continued their long ball strategy and whilst FSC by and large had this controlled, they did sneak a goal in the dying minutes however it proved a consolation as FSC took out the match.

Player of the weekJelena Radic stepped up in training this week, showing refinement in her passing. On game day, she followed the game plan set for her and scored a great long-range goal.

GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE | Under 15 Girls | Mt Druitt Rangers 0-3 Football South Coast
The girls started a little slowly after a disrupted start to the game and delayed kick off. Once the game settled though, the girls looked to get into their groove and a quick counter saw Piper Cowan execute to put FSC in front.

Mt Druitt persisted with the long ball which at times turned our girls around however they scrambled well to get the ball back on the ground and in control. Piper Cowan’s running and

Player of the weekIsabella Zipparo showed a great attitude at training and her game intensity was high, executing tactical instructions in a variety of positions.

GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE | Under 17 Girls | Mt Druitt Rangers 1-6 Football South Coast
FSC suffered a set back early in this one when Mt Druitt scored through a free kick that snuck through a sea of bodies. Sariah Wilson got FSC level after a well-placed shot saw both teams go into half time all square.

The game was burst open early in the second half when firstly Piper Cowan then Wilson scored in quick succession. Nicola Butkovic added a fourth with a great finish midway through the half as FSC took a stranglehold of the game.

With the Rangers reeling, Taya Kelly and Brinley Smart added goals to run away with the game and record a comprehensive 6-1 win.

Player of the weekNicola Butkovic applied herself excellently at training and showed great improvements in her combination play particularly in final third on game day.
