PETER WEBSTER CUP FINALS

The inaugural Peter Webster Cup is being played this weekend with the final four shooting it out for the season's first silverware in Community League.

16 teams started their cup campaign and now just it's just four.

The Cup is named after Community League stalward Peter Webster and his involvement in the game is over 64 years years as a player. He is a former Community League (amatuers) President (1988-2000) and he is priveldged to have a competition named in his honour. He is quoted as wanting to have a run next year in his own cup competition and given his dedication, one would not put it past him.

IFS Wolves tackle Port Kembla Pumas in the first semi final and whilst these sides are in separate divisions, they have both enjoyed a good cup run. On paper, Port Pumas should be too strong but IFS have the ability to provide a cup suprise.

"We really like the concept as it has added interest to the season and it's been a great initiative" - Cameron DeJong (IFS Wolves)

"The concept has given players more game time and it's been great to call upon and play with mates from our grade" - Athony Stefanelli (Port Kembla Pumas)

"We've really enjoyed playing against teams we don't usually play and we are keen to make the final although we AP City Razorbacks will be tough to beat" - Steven Delovski (Uni Wolves)

It's great to be playing more games and we've already had two big wins and with a deep squad, we are looking to give it our best shot" - Alex Kates (AP City Razorbacks)

The final will be played on Monday from 3.00pm at Ian Mclennan Park (free entry). Get on out and support the guys.
