In a battle of the top 5, both teams were evenly challenged with neither side able to exert their authority and take maximum points.

Central Coast had the better of the first half to be fair, as we failed to match their intensity and enthusiasm which left us going into half time 1-0 down.

In the second half, we came out fired up and scored after their keeper failed to collect a deep free kick which was pounced on by Blake Ferguson allowing us to equalise.

We worked very hard as a team in the second half but were unable to play our best football, leaving us no option but to share the points in a tight one.

Whilst it was a disappointing score, it did not reflect the boys’ efforts and their strong work ethic throughout the game.

The boys put on a dominating display and Central Coast could hardly match our football in the first 15 minutes of each half. Our boys were very eager in attack which exposed us and allowed the quick transition of Central Coast to put three unanswered goals past us in the first half.

The fourth goal came in the second half as Central Coast were awarded a penalty kick which effectively sealed the game.

Player of the week Jack Gallagher listened to advice on his playing style throughout the week in training and implemented it into his game play.

ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEAGUE | Under 16 Boys | Central Coast Football 4-0 Football South Coast
In a battle against first place, we started off the back foot sitting deep and losing a lot of ball in crucial areas of the field.

Inside the first 6 minutes, we found ourselves a goal down with some untidy defending. Their second goal came from a free kick where our replacing goalkeeper made an unintentional error. Despite their will to keep fighting, our boys conceded a third goal which put us 3-0 down just before the break.

Our boys entered the second half with a serious talk about structure and discipline at half time but unfortunately conceded one more goal in the tenth minute. Seven minutes later, we lost a player to frustration and a straight red card which only made things harder.

The boys managed to keep Central Coast out for the remainder of the match but were unable to get anything further from the game where we lacked composure and discipline.

Player of the weekMax Manganas has been thrown into goals for the past two weeks and has done a tremendous job. One of our highlights was Max saving a penalty. A big congratulations to Max for putting his team first.

GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE | Under 14 Girls | Camden Tigers 1- 3 Football South Coast

In a battle of the top three, we extended our unbeaten run as we beat a determined Camden Tigers squad that were in a great run of form leading into this game.

The game was a physical contest from the start with neither team being able to settle into a rhythm and create meaningful possession, with missed opportunities for both sides. The deadlock was broken on 19 minutes as Holly Penning beat her defender on the left and delivered a square pass along the 6-yard box allowing Caley Tallon-Henniker to score into an open net. The remainder of the half ebbed and flowed as our girls stayed strong earning them a well-deserved 1-0 half time lead.

Our girls went into the second half strong, controlling possession and beginning to take initiative in the game. However, an unfortunate misplaced clearance found the ball at the feet of the Tigers attacker who rolled the ball into an open net.

The Camden goal seemed to ignite the game as both goal keepers were forced into making saves to keep the scores level. As the final whistle drew closer with the score still at 1-1, in-form striker, Demi Gay popped up in the box to score from close range to make it 2-1 with only four minutes remaining.

Two minutes later, Helena Halios-Lewis received the ball inside the box and finished past the Camden goalkeeper to give our girls a 3-1 win and extend their lead at the top of the table.

Player of the weekLili Rosandic was consistent in all areas of her game. She has been training very well lately, focusing on her position in defence and her link up play from left back. Against Camden Tigers, Lili followed her defensive instructions perfectly and was instrumental down the left side in attack.

GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE | Under 15 Girls | Camden Tigers 0-2 Football South Coast

The girls showed their strategic manner of play and were continuously causing problems for the oppositions defense right from the start.

After a lot of buildup and composure, the girls finally broke the deadlock with a classy finish from Angelica Barraza. Camden tried to fight back but weren’t able to break the girls press.

Chance after chance from wide areas went begging until Piper Cowan scored the game’s second goal with a typical strikers finish after clever build up from the team.

Player of the weekKira Lechowicz showed continual improvement in the understanding of a variety of positions and relentless work ethic during matches.

GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE | Under 17 Girls | Camden Tigers 0-2 Football South Coast

It was a very professional performance from the girls this week as they looked to get back to winning ways after the 0-0 result in last week’s top of the table clash.

The game plan was to attack through wide areas of the field and the girls quickly fashioned multiple chances. It was our player rotation in these wide areas that lead to FSC’s opening goal as Sariah Wilson beat her opposite number, dribbled into the box and played a lovely cut back in which Bethany Portelli showed great composure to slot home and put the girls 1-0 up.

The second half began with Football South Coast holding the majority of the possession and causing havoc to the Tigers fullbacks.

The second goal came via Taya Kelly who prodded home the ball from an impressive corner from Niki Butkovic. Defensively, the girls continued their impressive form and shut down majority of Camden’s attempted attacks.

Overall, the girls should be very proud of themselves as they showed thorough improvements from last week’s game and never looked in trouble against a Camden side sitting third.

Player of the weekMaddie Elmir’s application of our football topic at training this week was exemplary on game day as she caused the opposition defence nightmares with the ball at her feet. Her effort was also very noteworthy, showing not only her athleticism but also her intelligence forcing the opposition into bad areas for FSC to win the ball high up the pitch.
