Q1. How did you discover Aussie Rules
My brother, Dan, introduced me to the sport.
Q2. How did you discover women actually played the game and got involved
I had watched my brother, Dan, play a couple games and assumed women played but didn't think much more on it until Dan volunteered me to play with a team at US nationals.
Q3. Describe to me your first game, how did you feel before, during and afterwards.
I was definitely a little nervous not knowing the game, or the level of competition (having never even practiced before), but once the game got underway and I adjusted to an oblong ball rather than a round ball and remembered to use my hands (I'm a soccer player at heart) well, I was hooked.
Q4. (If you have ever kicked a goal) - How did you feel when you kicked your first goal?
I kicked my first goal about 5 minutes into my first game, and after that I thought to myself "I think I like this game."
Q5. What do you love about the game
I like the free flow nature of the game and the creativity it allows. Oh, and I like to tackle.
Q6. What do you hope to achieve personally on the tour?
I'm really excited to be immersed in a different culture whose main sports focus is different than what I grew up with and am familiar to.
Q7. How well do you think the US team is going to go?
Hard to say, our countries are obviously at different stages in development of the sport. Regardless of how we compare to Australian teams, every time we step on the field is another game to improve, to learn, and enjoy playing a great sport.
Q8. Most US Footy is played 9-12 a side, do you think the transition to full sized fields and 18 a side football will be a big shift for the team to adjust to?
I think it will definitely be an adjustment and will require every player on the field to do their part. We won't be able to rely on only a handful of players to bare the responsibility over the whole field. How much of an adjustment and how easily we make the adjustment? Well, we'll have to wait and see.
Thanks Jenny and hope you and your team have a fantastic time in Australia!
