Deputy Premier and Member for Marrickville Carmel Tebbutt today announced a $500,000 boost to improve community facilities in Marrickville. Ms. Tebbutt said the funding comes from NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership program, which provides community groups and local councils with funds to build community infrastructure. “These funds will help local organisations to build better facilities for our community,” Ms. Tebbutt said.
One of the major projects awarded is $27,500 for players shelters at Henson Park, Marrickville.
The other major project awarded is $20,000 for off-field drainage at Mahoney Oval, Marrickville. Any spectatorwho has been to Mahoney after rain, knows how boggy the area between the changing rooms and the field. This will be a long-term benefit for both players, officials and spectators alike.
This grant could not have been obtained with support from the SWAFL Executive who formulated a template letter that all SWAFL followers/players (especially those who live in the state seat of Marrickville) was able to download and send to the Deputy Premier. Also major thanks to the NSW AFL who wrote a letter of support for this project.
