In what may be a first for AFL in Sydney, two girls were selected to play at the GSJ U13 Rep carnival on Saturday, 8th June.
The carnival was held at Homebush and was a huge success with the weather holding off for a great day of footy action.
The two girls selected to play for the Sydney South West side were Rhiannon Bartley and Jessica Horton who play for Ingleburn/South Campbelltown in the GSJ competition.
Both girls have been playing since a young age and are destined to be stars of the game for NSW in the future.
Sydney Women's AFL is keen to hear of any other young girls who are playing AFL so we can celebrate their achievements. It is the current aim of the league, with the assistance of the NSW/ACT AFL, to create a pathway for these junior girls to continue their participation in the game and be able to make the transition to the senior competition.
Please see the contacts section of the website for details on how to contact the league.
