In Round 8 action.
At Village Green, an inaccurate Balmain kicked their way to victory over Easts 10.27.87 to 1.1.7
Back at Mahoney Park. League leaders Wests took on 5th placed St George. In the first quarter Wests were on fire scoring 6.6.42 to 0.0.0. St George tried hard in the second quarter with many forward advances but were unable to convert their opportunities on the scoreboard. Wests continued to score throughout the game. And it was a fair result on the day that Wests remained undefeated. 15.14.104 to 0.0.0
In the second game 3rd placed Newtown played 4th placed Sydney University. Last time these two teams had met it was a battle royale with both sides swapping goals. In contrast Newtown exerted pressure straight away with a dominant midfield. Sydney University had many chances in their forward 50m but were unable to put points on the scoreboard when it counted. The end result was Newtown 7.10.52, Sydney University 1.3.9
