Tiny Taipans Starts Soon!

Are you between the age of 4 and 9 and want to start playing basketball? Tiny Taipans recommences on Saturday 30 January 2016 with sessions split into two age groups.

8.00am – 8.45am: 4-6 year-olds will continue their focus on fundamental skills development, learning rules and court familiarisation.
8.45am – 9.30am: 8 and 9 year-olds will focus on live game play to continue their development and transition into the Cairns Basketball under-10 club system.
*7 year-olds will be split into either session 1 or 2 depending on their ability.

Of course, Tiny Taipans still features weekly appearances by Taipans players, a Tiny Taipans achievement poster to hang up in your bedroom, and weekly skill development stickers to place on your poster each week. More about Tiny Taipans …

This program is specifically designed to have high-profile coaches and players instructing the correct fundamental techniques required to play basketball.  It is a goal of the CQUniversity Cairns Taipans to be in touch with basketball participation at the grass-roots level, by providing a strong foundation of skill development to kids as the progress through the sports development pathway.

Children aged 5-9 years old learn the fundamental skills of basketball in weekly, 45-minute sessions over a 15-week programme. Sessions are held at the Fish Tank on Saturday mornings from 8am – 9.30am.

CQUniversity Cairns Taipans players and development players are present each week to help teach the game to youngsters throughout the duration of the program.

The Tiny Taipans program is the perfect way for new players to learn the skills required for a life-long association with the game from experienced high-level players coaches.

Tiny Taipans is core to the CQUniversity Cairns Taipans’ commitment to development at the grassroots level. It’s the club’s hope that by teaching kids the correct fundamentals early on, it may help create a future Taipans players right in our own backyard.
