Age Just A Number For Meteor Rasmussen

MACKAY, QUEENSLAND – Bradley Rasmussen, Mackay’s all-time leader in games played will be returning to the McDonald’s Meteors in 2020 for season number 14.

The 246 game veteran returns to the club following a solid 2019 campaign, where the forward averaged 9 points and 7 rebounds per contest, while connecting on 50% on 2-point attempts and 35% on three’s.

Rasmussen is the first player signed by the McDonald’s Mackay Meteors for their inaugural NBL1 North campaign and the three-time QBL champion said he was looking forward to the challenges within the new competition.

“I think the direction of where the competition is going to be great,” Rasmussen said.

“There’s going to be a lot more eyes nationally watching what we do up here in Queensland and the potential to be playing for a national title against the winner’s from the other states is exciting.”

“I’m really proud to be back in the red and black, representing my hometown for another season and to be honest, my body is feeling the best it has in a long time. I feel like I’m 25, not 35.

McDonald’s Meteors Head Coach Joel Khalu was also happy to see “Rassy” return.

“We’re thrilled to have Rassy back on deck, not only as a player and what he brings to the floor, but also his leadership,” Khalu said.

“He’s a three-time championship winner, so he understands the hard work it takes to reach the top and I’ll be looking for him to continue to bring that mentoring and motivation to the young players in our group.”

“He’s also had a tremendous pre-season and is probably in the best shape of his career. He’s been working hard in the gym and is stronger than I’ve ever seen him.”

The McDonald’s Meteors open the 2020 NBL1 North season on April 25 at the McDonald’s Mackay Multi-Sport Stadium against Toowoomba.
