Meteorettes sign Weaver
The Global Product Search Mackay Meteorettes have filled their second restricted player position for the 2016 QBL season with the signing of Boise State college standout Deanna Weaver.
Weaver arrived in Mackay on Sunday and is settling in quickly with her teammates and is looking forward to the season ahead.
The 5ft 11inch shooting guard averaged 12.7 points and 5.16 rebounds in her senior year at Boise State and was named a WBCA all American in her final year at college. After completing her senior year at Boise State Deanna played in Finland where she averaged 15.7 points and 8.9 rebounds in 10 games playing for Espoo.
Deanna is extremely excited to be joining the Meteorettes in 2016.
“ I am very grateful the club has given me the opportunity to play in Mackay and I have heard nothing but great things about the program here. The success that the club has had over the past 5 years made it a very easy decision for me to commit to the club”, Weaver said.
“I am looking forward to spending some time with my teammates and contributing to an already successful program”
Global Product Search Meteorettes Head Coach Mick Virgo was very happy to secure Deanna’s playing services.
Deanna will give us more scoring punch and great versatility this season. She shoots that ball extremely well and we believe she is going to complement the core group of players that we have very well, Virgo said.
More player signings for the Global Product Search Meteorettes will be announced in the next week.
