Zelenka Returns Home For 2016 Season
The Global Product Search Mackay Meteorettes have further bolstered their roster with WNBL Townsville Fire player and Mackay local Jacqui Zelenka committing to play for the club for the 2016 QBL season.
Zelenka is coming off back to back WNBL wins with the Townsville Fire and will be an integral part of this year’s Meteorettes team.
Head Coach Mick Virgo was extremely happy that Jacqui decided to return home.
“We have always wanted Jacqui to return to the Global Product Search Meteorettes and play for the club she grew up with. With the loss of Kayla Standish this year, we knew we had to bolster our front court and we knew Jacqui was the perfect fit for this group”, Virgo said.
“Jacqui is a very versatile player who can put the ball in the basket and with the experience she has gained training and playing against the WNBL’s best, we are expecting some nice things from her this year”, Mick said.
Zelenka to, was extremely excited to be a part of the Meteorettes group once again.
“The last time I played for Mackay, I was part of a championship team and I am looking forward to helping the team to be challenging for a title at the business end of the season. We have a lot of hard work to put in, but we have a great group of girls and I just can’t wait for the season to start”, Zelenka said.
Zelenka will step on the floor with her teammates against Townsville on the 16th of April in a preseason game at McDonalds Mackay Stadium.
