IPSWICH TO HOST 2016 U20 NATIONALS & IVOR BURGE CHAMPIONSHIPS

After a rigorous  tender process, for the first time in its long history, Ipswich Basketball Association has won the right to host a national Basketball Australia championship.

In February next year the Under 20 Nationals and Ivor Burge Championship will be played in Ipswich, with all States and Territories being represented.

The announcement of IBA as the host association comes after the extremely successful delivery of numerous State Championships in the past several years, including two State titles in 2015 alone.

IBA Operations Manager Greg Fox sees the tournament as a fantastic promotional vehicle for basketball in the south-east Queensland region.

“It will be a good challenge for our association in the successful hosting of the event of this size and we aim to make it one to remember for the teams and officials”, Fox said.

“I have spoken to our association staff and key volunteers and they are more than up to the challenge”.
