BY-LAW CHANGE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

After a recent query re a junior players finals qualifications it became apparent that the relevant By-Law did not reflect the general understanding of the qualification requirements to play in the major round of the junior competitions.  To address this issue the BVABA Committee has tonight adopted the following change to the relevant By-Law with IMMEDIATE EFFECT.

EXISTING BY-LAW CLAUSE 4.3 (f)  valid to 2nd April 2014

 (f)     Once a junior player has qualified, according to 4 Limitation and Eligibility Junior (c), in an age division they may not play in a lower division within that age group.

REVISED BY-LAW CLAUSE  4.3 (f) effective 3rd April 2014

(f)

i    Once a junior player has qualified, according to 4 Limitation and Eligibility Junior (c), in an age group they may not play in a lower age group.

ii   Once a junior player has qualified, according to 4 Limitation and Eligibility Junior (c), in an age division they may not play in a lower division within that age group.

For the purpose of 4.3 (f), qualification is deemed to occur at the completion of each round in the junior competition. A junior player may qualify concurrently in more than one age group.

A full copy of the revised By-Laws can be found under the Local Competition menu on the this website.

If you have any uncertainties about whether a particular player is eligible to play in the forthcoming finals please ensure that you query this and get an answer BEFORE the player takes the court.  Only qualified players will appear on the finals score sheets and no player can be added without authority from the BVABA.

We are currently reviewing several By-Laws and further changed may be effected early in the Winter 2014 Season.
