Hot Weather Policy

Hi folks – With the weather starting to heat up it is a good time to revisit our hot weather policy. Here is the policy straight off of the Barossa website for everybody. Full policy can be found here:

http://www.foxsportspulse.com/assoc_page.cgi?c=1-4983-0-0-0&sID=74992

The Heat policy uses maximum temperatures forecast for Nuriootpa on the 6pm Channel 9 News/ Dept of Meterology website (http://www.bom.gov.au/sa/forecasts/map7day.shtml ) the preceeding evening. The drinks break policy will have flexibility depending on the actual ambient temperature at the time of the game. If, for example, a cool change has come through the ref in charge may decide not to implement the drinks break policy. If a day is particularly humid, the RIC may implement the drinks policy at a lower temperature.

PLEASE NOTE AUTOMATIC HEAT POLICY CANCELLATIONS WILL NOT BE ADVISED DIRECTLY TO THE TEAMS IN ADVANCE. IT IS EXPECTED THAT TEAMS WILL CHECK THE RELEVENT INFORMATION THEMSELVES.

The game policy is

- U10's- modification of the game drinks policy (uncharged 1 minute timeouts with clock running) applicable from 32 degrees (instead of 34 degrees). Automatic game cancellation when the forecast temperature is 36 degrees or more.

- U12-U18- drinks policy remains at 34 degrees, uncharged 1 minute timeouts with clock running. Automatic game cancellation when the forecast temperature is 38 degrees or more.

- Seniors - drinks policy remains at 34 degrees, uncharged 1 minute timeouts with clock running. Automatic game cancellation remains when the forecast temperature is 40 degrees or more.

Game cancellation occurs the preceding night at 7:00pm after the News, and subsequent unforecast weather changes do not affect the cancellation decision

.
Remember that hydration, particularly for younger children, needs to start well before the game. Drink plenty of fluids in the days before your game time and bring plenty of water to drink during the game. On days of hot weather the referees will ensure extra drink time outs, so take advantage of them. Keep hydrated and have a great game.
