Vale Vern Hiddlestone
The Perth Basketball community is stunned by the sudden death of Vern Hiddlestone last Monday.
Vern was a big supporter of Basketball at all levels in WA. He was a regular at Perth Redbacks home and away games and was often seen selling raffle tickets at Belmont Oasis. He would not only sell the tickets but would provide the majority of prizes.
Vern was a sponsor of the Perth Redbacks' State Basketball League men's and women's teams over many years and always asked, as part of his sponsorship package, to be recognised as an individual player sponsor for young and developing players.
He also supported the West Coast Waves and many other sports and events including Equestrian and dance events.
In 2012 Vern was placed onto the Roll of Honour for the Perth Redbacks for services to the club and basketball generally.
The club offers his wife Kay, daughters Brooke, Nat, Donna and Kelly and all other family members our sincere commisserations.
Perth Redbacks were priveleged to have had such an enthusiastic, passionate and loyal supporter. Vern will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
His funeral will be held this Saturday at Karrakatta at 10.30AM.
