Redbacks lose first game in semi-final

The Perth Redbacks’ men’s State Basketball League team lost their first game in the three-game semi-final series against the East Perth Eagles 98 to 106.

The Redbacks fought back from a 15-point half-time deficit to get to within four-points in the last quarter but could not bridge the gap beyond that to go down by the eventual eight-point margin.

Power forward Lee Roberts top scored for the Redbacks with 21 along with 15 rebounds while small-forward Stan Okoye had 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Shooting guard Jarrad Prior scored 17 while point-guard Joel Wagner had 10 assists and 12 points.

Point-guard Kyle Armour top-scored for the Eagles with 23 and had five assists while centre Tom Jervis scored 22 along with 14 rebounds.

The Redbacks will be looking to eliminate small errors that occurred in their first final, as reflected in their turnover count of 21, in their drive to win both remaining semi-final games and qualify for the Grand Final.

The second-game in the three-game series will be played at the WA Basketball Centre this Friday at 7.30PM, with the third-game also at that venue at 7.30PM on Saturday.
