STANHOPE v VIOLET TOWN
The battle between two teams bound for the finals will give both coaches the opportunity to see their team in a high pressure situation.
The Lions were able to get the better of Lancaster last weekend, while the Towners’ fell short against the second placed Avenel.
Kerrie Gray will be eager to see her team replicate all the positives out of the win against Lancaster while Pip O’Donoghue would have worked on ironing out the chinks in their game that let them down against Avenel.
Violet Town will be desperate to show the rest of the premiership contenders that it is the real deal and they only way to do that is to make a statement.
It is capable as we saw a month ago when it accounted for Tallygaroopna.
Tip: Stanhope.
AVENEL v MERRIGUM
Merrigum’s aspirations of making it back-to-back finals appearances were dashed by their shock loss at the hands of Rushworth.
Unfortunately the Bulldogs are a shadow of the team that played off in last year’s finals and they will find the challenge of taking on the Swans extremely difficult.
Kath Hard has her team peaking at the right time and they have been particularly ruthless of late, especially against some of the teams that are considered a chance for this year’s title.
Despite the good form, Kath Hard will be demanding that her girls don’t take the foot off the pedal.
She will be challenging them to keep striving to get better as the competition for spots in the starting seven hots up closer to the finals.
Tip: Avenel.
TALLYGAROOPNA v GIRGARRE
After a mid-season slump, last year’s grand finalist is back with a vengeance and Girgarre will need to be at its competitive best to challenge the home team.
Julie Telford has welcomed back some of key players, but the absence of them during the losses did allow her to find out a little more about her depth.
Girgarre come into the contest off the back of a really good win against Undera and only a four quarter effort will be good enough to cause a boil-over.
Tip: Tallygaroopna.
RUSHWORTH v LONGWOOD
Rushworth will be chasing back-to-back victories when hosting Longwood.
The Tigers scored arguably their best win of the season when they affectively ended the finals aspirations of Merrigum.
The coaching staff will not allow the girls to get ahead of themselves, knowing that they need to back up their four quarter effort from last weekend to make sure they avoid an upset loss.
Tip: Rushworth.
OTHER
In the remaining games, Nagambie return to the court when they travel to take on Undera while Murchison will be out to make its two wins on the bounce when it takes on Ardmona.
Tips: Murchison and Nagambie
