LONGWOOD v ARDMONA
The league’s bottom two teams will get a rare opportunity to chalk up a victory when they go head to head.
Longwood has certainly showed glimpses of improvement this year, but Nick Brown will be demanding his players play four quarters.
The start to the match will be really important for both teams, with Longwood conceding 11 first quarter goals and Ardmona giving up six in round eight.
Kicking a winning score will be a challenge for both teams, with Ardmona only averaging 11 points per match for the season while the Redlegs have averaged 45 points per game.
Longwood’s hopes of victory are likely to boosted by the return of at least two to three key players including full forward Balraj Singh.
Adam Molisak, Simon Wright, Thomas Tobin, Daniel Lloyd, Justin Van Merkesteyn and Braydon Kearns are some of the players in good form and they are likely to be the key to the club winning the game.
For the Cats, Ashton Cashion, Klae Rowan, Dylan Babarovich, Tristan Castle, Zac Gilbert and Adrian Moor were the shining lights in last week’s loss and they will need to continue their good form for them to win the four points.
Tip: Longwood.
NAGAMBIE v VIOLET TOWN
Nagambie has jumped back up to second place on the ladder after their gutsy win over flag contender Stanhope last week.
The Lakers knew the importance of the game and they finished the better of the teams to grab the all-important win.
Linc Sullivan knows that this task will be equally as difficult for his troops.
Violet Town is in some good form of late and made a statement with its win against Girgarre last week.
Robert Staff is continuing his good form as he leads the race to be the top goal-kicker while Samuel Poole, Leigh Lugg, Chris McKay, Lochlan Morrison, Ben Dyer and Greg Dyer are others playing well for the fifth placed Towners.
Anthony Haysom, Ricky Misiti, Martin Shadbolt, Joshua Sanderson, Michael Shiels and Jayden Gleeson were some of the stars in the win last week while Hayley Taylor-Lloyd keeps kicking goals.
It is a massive test for both teams to see where they are at.
Tip: Nagambie.
LANCASTER v MURCHISON
Lancaster will have their tales up and it will fancy its chances of victory against a Murchison team that has only won once in the past month.
The return of Michael Hill and Andrew Pettigrove has made a huge difference while Chris Eddy, Besim Besim, Nicholas Bertoli, Calum Herrick and young Colby McDonald are putting in and getting the reward for their effort.
Bertoli knows if they can limit the supply to Brent Chapman they will be a big show.
Another thing he will want to do is keep it low scoring like a fortnight ago against Tallygaroopna.
Jesse Beckhurst, Jamie Jones, Tom Kerrins, Jake Rennie, Clinton Lambert and Hayden Ewart have all been working hard for the Grasshoppers, but Chapman will no doubt be putting the acid on a few of his low performing players to lift their games.
Tip: Lancaster.
GIRGARRE v MERRIGUM
This is an eight point game, with the winner remaining well and truly in the mix to play finals while the loser will drop off the pace.
Merrigum has found some form of late, but Christian Barnett knows his players will have to play at their best to see off an improved Girgarre.
Daniel Dryden, Jake Ross, Bryce Wellington, Greg Sullivan and Jack Sinclair were the shining lights in the big win against Ardmona and Barnett knows that only a four quarter performance will be enough to beat the Roos.
Todd Woodfine would have walked away from last week bitterly disappointed.
After showing some real improvement this year the loss to Violet Town was a reality check for the Roos.
Woodfine will look to Dwayne Fitzpatrick, Zane Johnstone, Paul Parsons, Nathan Marsh, Brad Canny and Ryan Jones to steer the team into battle with the reigning premier.
Tip: Merrigum.
In the remaining two matches, Tallygaroopna will be looking to build on its confidence boosting victory of last week at home against Rushworth and Avenel returns to the field on the road to Undera after back to back byes.
Tips: Tallygaroopna and Avenel.
