Jayden Thewma is one of the few success stories of what has otherwise been a forgetful year for Tatura.
The 21-year-old is the second player from the kennel to win a rising star nomination after Henry Peni won one earlier in the season.
Thewma has been one of a handful of players that Jamason Daniels has rescued from going through the motions as a seconds footballer.
Daniels saw Thewma is a project and he has really blossomed at Tatura after two seasons in the reserves at the Shepparton Swans.
He made his senior debut in round one this year and hasn’t looked back since, with the coach describing the form of the utility as very good.
“He’s probably put a really good block of games together over the past six weeks,” Daniels said.
And, Thewma agrees that his form has gradually improved each week.
“I’ve been trying really hard to string four quarters together and I have got some of the older guys like Paul Kirby and Lee Warnett along with some of the others to thank for my improvement,” he said.
He says despite the winless season to date he admires the support of the club’s loyal bands of supporters.
“They are still rocking up every week which has been fantastic,” he said.
His goal is simple for the rest of the year – to continue to keep playing well and hopefully cement a regular
spot in the senior team heading in 2016.
Thewma began his football at Lara, near Geelong before moving up to the Goulburn Valley with his parents where he played with Wanganui Park Secondary College and Dookie before a couple of years at Princess Park.
