James Fox returning home to work in the family business has been Mansfield’s gain in 2016.
After playing the majority of his junior football with the Eagles’, Fox moved away from the Alpine Country to Ballarat for school.
In 2011, he returned home to play a season with the thirds before returning to play with Central Highlands Football League club Springbank.
Last season, Fox came home for good, featuring in the team that played off in the second eighteen decider against Mooroopna.
After a handful of games in 2014, Fox is keen to cement a regular spot in the senior team after playing the last two games.
He says the upset win against the Shepparton Swans could be the foundation for the group to build on and secure more successes.
“That win gives us a fair bit of confidence and I know that I prefer what we experienced in the rooms after the game,’’ he said.
“It felt like that there were only 100-200 people there, but in the last quarter it felt like double that as we got closer to the final siren.”
The ruckman/defender says he was pretty stoked to play a part in Saturday’s victory.
“I played against a very good ruckman in Mitch Bell and he was very tall,” he said.
“I want to play as many senior games as I possibly can, but I will play where the coach picks me to play.
“I love playing with my mates – no matter whether that is in the seniors in the reserves.’’
