Navarre has started its quest for success in the Lexton Plains Football League in 2010 by kick-starting their pre-season training a month ago.
After the Grasshoppers rise up the ladder this season, the club aims to go several steps further in 2010 and with pre-season training already underway things are looking good.
Fitness, muscular endurance and game sense activities are high on the list of training methods being taken by coach Ben Martin.
With the Christmas break now in progress for Navarre, training will resume in the new year at 6pm on January 11.
``Once we come back (training) I'm hoping for a good level of commitment from most players,'' Martin said.
``If players can't make it to training I expect them to be doing something else instead to make up for it.
``We want everyone keen and raring to go once everything's in full swing.''
Martin said that his players will be doing plenty of game orientated drills at least four weeks before the start of the home and away rounds and that will remain one of the main focuses throughout the whole season.
The 2010 season will see the Hoppers without the services of best and fairest winner James Watts and quality back-flanker Michael Robson who will remain in Melbourne, as well as retired forward Wayne Driscoll.
While on the club's inclusions list are the signings of Stawell onballer Daniel Parkin and young St Arnaud wingman Ian Moreman.
Another three players from Strathmore Football Club that are said to be of a high standard will also play.
Martin was happy with the recruits his club has gained so far, but said there were still three or four other players in the pipeline that could build Navarre's team more.
``Wattsy (James Watts) and Sauce (Michael Robson) are obviously big losses, but our recruits so far are looking very positive,'' Martin said.
``We're still talking to three or four other players so things are looking good.
``Parko (Daniel Parkin) has been brilliant already for us, taking training and showing players plenty of fun game sense fitness drills.''
In the new year Navarre will train at the North Park running track each Monday night, while Wednesday training will possibly be at Navarre.
