Tocumwal coach Lucas White believes the only thing stopping Lee Warnett claiming a third straight O'Dwyer Medal this season is a lack of wins.
Tocumwal earned the first win of its Murray Football League premiership defence against bottom side Nathalia last Saturday.
A second straight win beckons against fellow one-win side Rumbalara at Tocumwal on Saturday.
"To come off winning the flag and not get our first win until round nine, two wins in a row would be a godsend," White said.
"We play Tongala (1-7) the following week so we have two winnable games coming up to try and build a bit of confidence and momentum."
Tocumwal won just six games when Warnett tied with Daryl Harrison for the 2008 O'Dwyer Medal.
Warnett has featured in the Bloods' best six times in eight games this season.
"He's in medal form again if we can win enough games," White said.
Nathan Tresize (five goals) and Ben Shiels (four) helped Tocumwal record its first 100-plus score of the season in a 34-point win against Nathalia.
"Our forward line seemed to work a lot better," White said.
"Our midfield and backline have been solid but we just haven't kicked many goals.
"We went with a tall forward line and they started to hold their marks."
Rumbalara hasn't registered 100 points in game since round five has kicked more behinds than goals in six of its eight games.
"We're getting the ball in our forward-line enough but we're not finishing off," Rumbalara coach Sam Ahmet said.
"The boys are staying upbeat. It's a young group, so it's just a confidence thing to have that self-belief."
Small Rumbalara speedster Rex Taylor (quadricep) will return from a two-game absence.
The former Bendigo Pioneer is a welcome inclusion to a talented midfield containing ruckman Ben Cox, Brayden Williams, Michael Chisholm and Nathan Terlich.
Murray Bushranger Ash Pollard and James Mugavin (hamstring) will be back for Tocumwal.
