One of the team's organisers, Joe Pedler, said the colours orange and charcoal were bright, did not clash with any other Mortlock Shield team and also were the colours used on team sponsor Adventure Bay Charters' boat, the Shark Warrior.
Mr Pedler said the guernsey design was modelled on AFL club Greater Western Sydney, as it happened to use the same colours as the sponsor.
Preparations are also in place for the carnival with more than 100 players having already registered interest in playing for the team.
Mr Pedler said the first training would be held on Sunday, May 17 at the Parade, Norwood at 2.30pm, where he expected 40 to 50 players to attend.
"I think everyone is looking forward to training and the coaches are looking forward to meeting the players," he said.
Mr Pedler said there was also talk that former AFL players Peter Burgoyne and Byron Pickett, and former SANFL player Jeremy Johncock could be lacing up the boots for the Shark Warriors.
"It is my dream for the team to have Johncock, Pickett and Burgoyne starting inside forward 50 at the first bounce," he said.
"Hopefully it would bring a few more people to the game."
