The best Country players will tackle the best City players in a curtain-raiser at Adelaide Oval to decide the winner of the 2016 MAC Cup.
The South Australian Community Football League has confirmed the highly-anticipated annual contest will take place before the AFL match between Port Adelaide and St Kilda on Sunday March 27.
Country stormed to a comfortable victory in last year’s clash, when City was represented by the Goodwood Saints as the previous year’s Div 1 SA Amateur League Premiership side.
This year, City – to be coached by Sean Jackson - will revert to a combined ‘’open age’’ line up consisting of the best players picked from the SAAFL.
Country will be guided by experienced mentor Barry Pilmore as it seeks to gain a 6-4 win-loss lead in the head-to-head battles to decide the MAC Cup.
Pilmore, a long-term coach in both the Southern and Great Southern Football Leagues, successfully steered Southern Districts to the 2015 SA Country Championships title.
‘’It will be exciting to see the best of the best square off at the home of SA football, particularly with the City team fielding an open age line-up,’’ SACFL General Manager Matt Duldig said.
‘’All of the players involved cherish the opportunity to play at Adelaide Oval, so this will provide them with something to strive toward.’’
The 2016 MAC Cup will begin at 11.55am, before the Power hosts the Saints in their Round 1 AFL fixture starting at 2.50pm.
The Peter Kitschke Medal will be awarded to the best Country player on the ground while the best City player will receive the Bill Botten Medal.
