Off-season Coach Development Opportunities - Oct-Dec

The netball season may be over but now’s a great time to harness your heightened interest and motivation and make the most of your off-season for some beneficial personal development. 

We are excited to support your upskilling by providing a mix of theory and practical courses suited to a variety of interests.  Whether you attended the Year 3-6 Workshop, My Team & Me or Starting Out In Coaching and wish to further add to your coaching bag of tricks by picking and choosing topics of interest or wish to focus on gaining Netball NZ accreditation.

Check out what’s on offer between October - December - something to suit all levels from beginner or casual interest to potential Community Coach Award and those wishing to pick and choose interest topics to expand your skill base.

PLEASE NOTE: Coaches who have completed Player Centred Coaching (PCC) prior to Oct 2012 need to attend a PCC Update (first 1.5 hours of standard PCC module) prior to sign-off for any Awards.  Cost: $10.

 

October 2014

Monday Community Coach Award Series: PLAYER CENTRED COACHING  - 6.00pm to 9.00pm Monday 13th October.  This 3 hour course consists of mental preparation, leadership, effective coaching and consolidation from the Starting Out in Coaching Course, and is the sole compulsory unit before moving on to the Developing Modules listed below. The module explores TGfU (Teaching Games for Understanding) in more detail and participants also look at leadership styles and effective use of questioning as they design and coach a TGfU activity with the support of the facilitator and the rest of the group. Monday Community Coach Award Series: PCC UPDATE - 6.00pm to 7.30pm Monday 13th October.  Netball New Zealand updated the original Player Centred Coaching module content in late 2012 to include a Self Reflection component.  All who completed Player Centred Coaching prior to October 2012 therefore are required to attend a compulsory 1.5 hour update at the beginning of the standard Player Centred Coaching module prior to being elligible to apply for the Community Coach Award.  The update details the reflective cycle, the benefits of self reflection and techniques for guided reflection. Monday Community Coach Award Series: PLANNING  - 6.00pm to 8.30pm Monday 20th October.  This 2 hour course covers practice and game day planning, season planning, and evaluation methods and modifications.Cost: $25.  Venue: Netball Wellington Centre Pavilion, 43 Ruahine Street, Hataitai - click to view map. November 2014

Monday Community Coach Award Series: TEAM BUILDING  - 6.00pm to 9.00pm Monday 3rd November.  This 2.5 hour course focuses on developing a team vision, establishing and re-establishing team values, and team building activities that can be utilised throughout the season.  Cost: $25.  Venue: Netball Wellington Centre Pavilion, 43 Ruahine Street, Hataitai - click to view map. Monday Community Coach Award Series: COMMUNICATION & MANAGING OTHERS  - 6.00pm to 9.00pm Monday 17th November.  This 2.5 hour course focuses on tools and systems to assist the coach with communication and how best to people manage within a team environment.  Cost: $25.  Venue: Netball Wellington Centre Pavilion, 43 Ruahine Street, Hataitai - click to view map. December 2014 

Monday Community Coach Award Series: SKILL ANALYSIS - 6.30pm to 9.00pm Monday 1st December.  This 2.5 hour course works through the biomechanics of netball movement and skill correction focusing on a constraints led approach to coaching. Once registrations are open, please be sure to register promptly to avoid disappointment as courses require a minimum of 8 participants and are limited to 16 spaces - first in, best prepared!
