South Australian Field Umpire Stephanie Morrison is always up for a challenge. She loves umpiring, something she has been doing with ever increasing success for 11 years now.
“I started in junior league games before officiating for 6 years in senior men’s football,” Steph said. “I have also umpired at SANFL level with U16 and U18 boys.”
Her next goal is to become the All Australian Field Umpire at the AFL Women’s National Championships. “I was very proud to be named the Umpire of the Carnival at the 2010 U18 Youth Girls Nationals alongside the All Stars team. SO now I’d like to go one better and do this at the Women’s Championships.”
Morrison is quite capable of achieving this as she has steadily improved her field umpiring culminating in a berth on the panel for the SANFL Colts Grand Final in 2010.
“Eventually I’d like to think I could umpire at senior SANFL level.”
‘Zipper’ as her cricket mates call her, has already achieved status as an Australian U21 cricketer in 2008 so she knows how to follow her dreams.
