NSW showed no Grand FInal nerves whatsoever as they carried the ball cleanly from the first centre ruck to put the first score on the board (a point) inside the first 20 seconds of play. Then through a fine overhead mark, tall forward Libby Sadler scored the first goal of the day. The Blues strong marking has been a feature of their game all week.
First term scores NSW 2 4 16 to ACT 1 2 8
ACT midfielders upped the anti in the second term and drove their team constantly in attack. Kasie Nugent was lively and with ACT getting to the ball first and their ruck taking over, NSW were under loads of pressure. ACT's Heather Anderson showed why she has the potential to become a star with pace and precision by foot. NSW could only penetrate their forward 50 twice. Half time scores NSW 2 6 18 to ACT 4 2 26.
After the long break NSW came out more determined and took the ball into their forward line with little result. Luisa Marzotto continued to tap the ball out of the ruck to advantage for ACT but NSW were dogged. Third term scores were NSW 6 2 38 to ACT 3 7 25
THe final term was an absolute cracker and showcased the determination of the players. Neither team had much left in the tank at the conclusion of the game but it was NSW who were able to dig a bit deeper into their reserves. ACT missed a goal in the dying seconds and what could have lifted them was turned over and went down to NSW's goals for a 6 pointer. This sealed the game for them with final scores being NSW 7 10 63 to ACT 6 3 39
