Israel's National PONY baseball team did well in the first round of the PONY tournament. Led by strong pitching and powerful bats, the team went 3-1 in the first round of the tournament. They opened with a 36-0 win over the UK, and followed it up with a 13-0 win over over Romania.
The pitching finally allowed a run, in a 7-4 win over a local Czech team. The team's only loss so far was to the Czech Academy, the defending champs of this tournament.
Israel begins single elimination play on Sunday, and will play either Austria or Germany.
Our boys, led by Amit Kurz, have proudly represented the State of Israel and the IAB at this tournament and deserve our highest praise and recognition.
