The Young Cadets National Team - won the gold. We finished the tournament with a 4:1:1 record.
Yotam had an amazing complete game pitching performance.
Yotam was running out of pitches, but a great unassisted double play by Avi Watson, to get the first two outs in the last bottom of the inning, and then a ground ball to Adam in third base finished the game
On the hitting side, Yoav Halper with a RBI double knocked in the first run. The Nettuno pitcher shut us down for the next three innings. We were down 3:1 in the last inning in which it all exploded - we scored 5 runs, on a single by Yoav Halper, a walk to Binyamin Mor, a single RBI to Yotam, Avi Watson kept the hot bats going with another single, and Eliyashiv Segal followed with another single RBI. All these first 5 batters scored the max 5 runs per inning.
The Nettuno team came undefeated to the championship game, and scored an average of 11 runs per game and were the heavy favorites of the tournament.
It is the first time that any young or old Israel cadet team wins the Tuscany Series Tournament. We had in the past two juvenile teams winning the tournament but never a cadets has won.
At the closing day ceremony, Yoav Halper won the MVP of the tournament (he had a .417 hitting batting average, 5 runs scored and 2 RBI)
Our best hitter - Elyashiv Segal with a batting average of .714, scoring 6 runs and 3 RBI.
Our first 8 players in the line up, all had a on base percentage of over .444 for the entire tournament !!!
WE MADE HISTORY TODAY !!!
The Old Cadets National Team finished the tournament 5TH place, with a 2:2 record.
Today we beat Grosseto 5:0 with a great game of everyone. No errors on the field, complete shutout game pitching by Ilan (giving up 1 hit entire game and striking
out 6 players), great hitting - double by Tal, Ilan and Yehuda, two singles by Y'israel and Cole, and a single by Mordy and Yechiel.
We did not give the opponent a chance to come back.
We used this game to practice for our next tournament, and the team looked very good on the field.
Tomorrow, Monday, our Old Cadets will play the strong French team (that finished third in the tournament) followed by a YC game against the Eagles OC, as a preparation for our next tournament in San Casciano.
