Under 14 Boys (2)

Bellarine Storm 55 defeated Coburg (2) 33

Best Players: Ben Crombie, Jesse Hart, Baxter Neilson, Henry Walsh

Top Scorers: Ben Crombie, Henry Walsh, Jesse Hart

Game summary: This week the boys started with intensity and purpose and they were well rewarded. The whole first half was played with terrific defensive pressure and patient offence with a half time difference of twenty four points. The passing and three point shooting in this half was a highlight. The Coburg team rallied after half time increasing their pressure on our ball handlers that created a few turnovers. In this quarter we were still able to maintain our own pressure and extend our lead by another five points. The attack on the basket and ball movement inside the keyway was impressive. Our final quarter didn’t quite have the same intensity as the first three and we were out scored as a result. By this stage we had the game well in hand and the boys acquitted themselves well. A very good effort for our last game on the road for the regular season.

Under 14 Boys (3)

Bellarine Storm 51 drew with Altona (3) 51

Best Players: Fraser Swan, Jack Lenan, Daniel Clifton, Sam Anderson.

Top Scorers: Daniel Clifton 18pts, Fraser Swan 12, Jack Lenan 12.

Game summary: Great effort from the boys this week. Very close game against a top side. The boys’ man to man defense was excellent again and is a real highlight of the boys’ development. Fraser was solid in defense and had a great rebounding game on both ends of the court. With less than a minute to go and both teams on 5 fouls, Altona was up by 4, (the biggest margin of the game) however the boys executed the plan well and managed to get within 2 points with 4.6 on the clock. We had possession so we used our last time out to set the play. We got the ball to Daniel, who had been shooting well all night, but unfortunately he missed. However Fraser did exactly what he had done all night and followed in for the rebound and a spectacular buzzer beater. Great job by all the boys. Both coaches agreed a draw was a fair result in what was a great game.

Under 16 Boys (1)

Under 16 Boys (2)

Bellarine Storm 41 defeated Bacchus Marsh (2) 30

Best Players: Clancy Whelan, Noa Boyd, Dale Perkins, Kai Murphy

Top Scorers: Clancy Whelan 17pts, Kai Murphy 8, Vincent Whelan 4, Dale Perkins 4

Game summary: To Bacchus Marsh's credit they came to play, unfortunately for Bellarine numerous missed shots from directly in front of the basket handed Bacchus Marsh the early lead.  Signs were not looking positive for Bellarine trailing Bacchus Marsh for most of the first and second quarters.  Constant fouling by Bellarine made mounting a comeback tough, however just before half time Clancy Whelan sparked into action making a four point play.

In the second half Bellarine played much better but still failed to capitalise on the offensive end.  Noah Boyd took charge controlling the tempo of the game and our offence started to take shape.  Kai Murphy chipped in with a handy eight points in quick succession and together with Clancy Whelan they ensured the game was out of reach for the opposition.

Game Summary: A very erratic game against a physical Kilsyth side. Nothing fancy but our hard work got us the win
