Game summary: This semi final was do or die for the boys. Last weeks’ disappointing result meant we had to face off against Craigieburn to continue in the competition. This week we had to make it happen. Last week our transition defence let us down and we were keen to make amends. In the first quarter we were able to get back in defence but our intensity wasn't there and Craigieburn were able to score with some freedom. With much of our attacking moves coming from our defensive efforts we struggled to get any scoreboard action. We finished the first quarter trailing by nine points. At the break the boys were reminded it was up to them to make it happen. In the second quarter we had a complete turnaround, our intensity lifted and the results came. Ben Crombie led the charge and in this quarter and we kept the opposition to a single point and scored fifteen ourselves. At half time we led seventeen to twelve. Throughout the third quarter we were able to maintain our pressure. As each player came in and out of the game they were giving their all and there was no respite for the Craigieburn team. We were able to increase our lead through this quarter going into the final break with a handy twelve point lead. The fourth quarter was the tightest of the game with neither side scoring for the first four or five minutes. All the boys were able to stand tall and withstand the efforts of the Craigieburn boys’ final efforts. The boys played it out and the final margin was eleven points. A great job. Well done boys.
