Fixtures

 

Fixtures for the first week of games (Monday 13th – Thursday 9th October) are now available on our website (www.bpba.org.au

Follow the Fixtures/Results link on the top menu bar.  Select the fixture for your relevant age group.

 

All competitions will commence in their respective divisions.  Please note that some teams have been re-graded following the Summer 14/15 Season.

Any necessary re-grading will occur at the conclusion of the third week of competition.

 

Please note that during the first four weeks of the season, fixtures will only be available on a week-to-week basis (hopefully within 24 hours of game night, for the following week’s games)

 

Please also be aware that we will continue to utilise multiple venues across the course of the week.  

All teams should ensure that they check the fixture closely each week, as we now utilise a number of venues each night, and game times may differ from venue to venue.

 

 

Important dates

 

Teams are reminded to notify us immediately of any events (school camp/concert) that will affect their ability to fill a team on any particular date.

Failure to do so prior to Friday 24th April 2015 will result in forfeit fines being issued for ALL games where a team cannot field players for a match.  No exceptions.

 

 

Player Registration

 

Some players will be due to pay their Annual Registration Fee for the Winter 2015 Season.

 

ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST NOW BE COMPLETED ONLINE.

Manual/cash registration cannot be taken at ANY venue.  (except Affiliation Payments – where player is registering at BPBA as their secondary association).

Online Winter 2015 Registration Fees:  Seniors - $65.00 /  Juniors - $58.00

 

Please be aware that ALL PLAYERS must be registered PRIOR TO PLAYING their first game.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!

Forfeits will apply to any team as the result of an Unregistered Player participating in any game. 

 

Players can speak with Customer Service Staff on games night, or email admin@bpba.org.au if they are unsure of their Registration status.

 

 

Uniforms

 

Uniform standards across the Summer Season was poor to say the least.

ALL teams are advised that BPBA will be

 

 

Teams requiring the use of the loan singlets will be charged a rental fee (except in the case of colour clash).

 

As per BPBA By-laws:

A player may not take the court in any match with incorrect uniform singlet after round four (4) of the competition.

Singlets must bear legal numbers of cloth, plastic or other acceptable fabric, permanently attached.  Chalked, taped or inked number will not be permitted.

Faded or damaged singlets must be replaced once the club/team has been notified in writing.

 

Therefore, all teams with players wearing singlets with numbers written on, or singlets turned inside out (i.e. 00), you MUST rectify this and ensure that by round four, all players are in correct team uniform. 

Please note that all players in a team must wear the same coloured basketball shorts as stated on the team registration form.  Leggings or tracksuit pants are not permitted, and will incur a four-point penalty (per player).

 

Teams ordering new singlets are advised that ONLY the following numbers are permitted within BPBA domestic competitions: 1-15, 20-25, 30-35, 40-45 & 50-55

Clearances

 

As per the BPBA Inc. By-laws, any player transferring to a different team for the Winter 2015 Season is required to complete a Clearance form before competing in any games with their new team.

 

Clearance forms are available from the BPBA website, or alternatively, players/teams can speak with Customer Service Staff on games nights, or email admin@bpba.org.au

 

 

Forfeit Fines

 

A reminder that forfeit fines will be imposed on any team forfeiting a scheduled match.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!

 

Penalties are as follows:

Less than 24-hours notice:

In the event of a team not being ready to play ten (10) minutes after the appointed time, a walkover will be awarded to the opposing team and a score of twenty (20) points to zero (0) shall be recorded.  In addition, fines as stipulated below shall be imposed:

                        Senior Divisions          $70                   Junior Divisions           $50

More than 24 hours notice:

In the event of a team giving in excess of twenty four (24) hours notice of a walkover, a score of twenty (20) points to zero (0) shall be awarded to the opposing team for percentage purposes.  In addition, fines as stipulated below will be imposed:

                        Senior Divisions          $40                   Junior Divisions           $30

 

Teams must pay fines within two weeks of receipt of Fine/Invoice. 

Failure to do so will result in the team forfeiting all matches until such time that payment is finalised.

Teams with outstanding fines will be unable to participate in finals, and may jeopardise their position in the competition for future seasons.

 

 

No-Smoking Legislation

 

New Victorian Government legislation means that from 13 April 2015 (under the Tobacco Act 1987) smoking is prohibited:

  • within the grounds of, and at and within four metres of an entrance to, all Victorian childcare centres, kindergartens (or preschools) and primary and secondary schools
  • at and within four metres of an entrance to children’s indoor play centres and Victoria public premises. Victoria public premises are all public hospitals and registered community health centres and certain Victorian Government buildings.

 

ALL members should note that this legislation applies to all venues that BPBA operates from. 

Specifically, the Bellarine Sports Centre (Drysdale), Christian College, and St Ignatius College being school grounds, require patrons to leave the school grounds and remain four metres from the entrance gate, should they wish to have a cigarette.

 

Members should be aware that the maximum penalty for someone breaking this law is five penalty units, with an infringement penalty of one penalty unit.  As of 1 July 2014, a penalty unit is valued at $147.61.

 

 

BPBA’s Domestic Development Program

 

BPBA's NEW Domestic Development Program for Under 12 and Under 14 Boys and Girls, and Under 17 Girls will commence in late-April 2015.

Join BPBA Development Manager, David Herbert for skill development and basketball drills during a four-week Program.

These sessions are designed with both domestic players and coaches in mind; with a view to advancing the knowledge, understanding and skill level of all participants.
