Lady Reds v Canberra United Preview

The Lady Reds will be looking to bounce back from last week’s 2-0 loss as they host an in form Canberra United who started their campaign with a impressive 4-0 win.

Coach Ross Aloisi was disappointed with the result but praised the performance.

“I think the football that we played, especially in that second half and parts of the first half was very good, especially for our defenders to come together with a lot of young players.

For Adelaide and Coach Ross Aloisi, last week’s loss to Sydney FC might not have read well on the scoresheet, but the performance was more than respectable.

During the week, Aloisi highlighted the potential of the younger brigade once they found their feet.

“The young players stepped up and performed very well against three quarters of the team from the Matildas and it was a massive step and as the game went on they realised they were more than capable.”

Helping these younger players find their feet is the Lady Reds  mix of experience, including Danish import Katrine Pederson who Aloisi praised.

“She’s been fantastic, the more she plays, the more she gives the players around her that composure.”

Captain Kristy Moore spoke positively about last week’s performance, praising the ability of a team looking to build chemistry.

“We’ve still got some work to do but the positive is we’ve got a good mix of youth and experience with a good and hardworking attitude.”

Moore’s message for this week was there are positives from last week and they have nothing to fear.

“We know they’re a strong side but we’ve got a shot as long as we stick to our tactics and play smart football and with the younger players finding their feet, there’s room for improvement.
