Regional Girls Program

The Regional Girls Program is year long program that includes coaching, coach education, referee education and the chance for regional players to participate in an international tournament.

The Regional Girls Program is designed to identify and provide training opportunities for girls who reside in regional and geographically isolated areas. Players are identified through the Country Championships and trials at satellite locations e.g. Keith/Port Pirie.

The annual State Talent Identification Championships (STIC) act as a showcase for elite Junior Football in South Australia with the tournament's main purpose being a talent identification event, forming an integral part of the talent identification pathway for promising players and referees within South Australia.

Football Federation SA (FFSA) offers a girls only Grassroots Coaching Certificate for those taking part in the program as well as a girls only referee scholarship program. The program will be conducted over a two year period, with exclusive benefits being provided to each of the scholarship holders.

The program has the ability to grow each year with growth already evident from the 2013 program. In 2013, one team travelled to Fiji for a tournament while in 2014 two teams are traveling for the same tournament. This demonstrates the ability and number of girls playing and striving to reach the highest level they can through this pathway.
