Lady Reds Topple Glory

Round 7 of the Westfield W-League was action packed as the Lady Reds ended Perth Glory’s winning streak by defeating them 1-0 at Adelaide Shores Football Centre on Saturday.

The Lady Reds showed why you can't go by the ladder, winning  their second game of the season in a match that saw them dominate the strong Glory.

The match started at an intense pace as both teams looked to press high. It was the Lady Reds import Katrine Pederson who started the action after having a free kick from 20 yards out, unfortunately being denied by the post.

Lady Reds keeper Melissa Barbieri was also kept busy as Gabrielle Marzano found space and time to deliver a stinging shot but the veteran proved her worth and continued to keep a clean sheet.

At half time the score read 0-0 however the deadlock was broken soon after as Lady Reds skipper Kristy Moore pounced on a placed ball with brilliant timing, using her pace and agility to beat Perth Glory keeper  Mackenzie Arnold.

Glory didn't give in and looked to get the game on equal terms. It was Marzano again who was causing havoc but ultimately the Glory were unable to break down a strong Lady Reds defence.

For the Lady Reds, it's a short turnaround as they face the in form Melbourne Victory on Wednesday the 29th at Adelaide Shores Football Centre, kick-off 7:00pm.
