FFSA Hot Weather Policy Key Facts

With the hot weather upon us Football Federation SA (FFSA) would like to take this opportunity to highlight some key information relating to the FFSA Hot Weather Policy to assist players, officials, volunteers, parents and spectators.

In the event of Hot Weather the following steps are to be taken:

Clubs shall check the temperature forecast 2 days prior to every competition, as published by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology at www.bom.gov.au. Forecasts are to be taken from the area closest to the venue such as Adelaide, Elizabeth, Noarlunga, Adelaide Hills. Port Pirie or regional area if applicable.

Forecasted temperature is 33 Degrees:

All Junior matches or training sessions must be rescheduled to conclude prior to 11:00am or commence after 5:00pm.

Forecasted temperature is 36 Degrees:

All Junior matches and training sessions must be cancelled.

All Senior matches and training sessions must be rescheduled to conclude prior to 11:00am or commence after 5:00pm.

Forecasted temperature is 40 Degrees:

All Senior matches and training sessions must be cancelled.

Additional information:

A junior player is classified as any player that participates in the Junior Age Competitions eg: JPL/JSL, Junior Girls and MiniRoos. If a player is playing in the Under 18 Competition this is considered to be part of the Senior Competitions.

The rescheduling of matches is done in consultation with the clubs involved.

Player Welfare is paramount in all decisions regarding Hot Weather and the rescheduling of games.

If the forecasted temperature continues to increase even on the day of the scheduled match or training session the FFSA Hot Weather Policy must be implemented.

Clubs and officials are encouraged to utilise drinks breaks where applicable and this is outlined within the full policy.

It must be noted that the FFSA Hot Weather Policy has been developed in accordance with Sports Medicine Australia and must be implemented to ensure players, volunteers and clubs are covered by the National Insurance Policy.

If you would like more information please refer to the detailed FFSA Hot Weather Policy.
