Regional Camp a Success
Football Federation SA (FFSA) held their Annual Regional Camp for boys and girls in Berri, Riverland from 6-10 July.
The Camp was established in relation to the FFSA Regional Program – a pathway for Coach’s, and players located in regional and geographically isolated areas of South Australia. Junior players are provided with the opportunity for training, coach education and referee education. A total of 20 girls and 28 boys were in attendance for the 2015 camp.
FFSA Development Officers Tiarn Powell and Cristiano Dos Santos along with James Kerr (Adelaide Hills), Tony D’Agostino (Inter, Mount Gambier) and Shannon Neilson (Whyalla Wanderers), conducted a variety of sessions throughout the week.
Game Development Manager John Mundy commented on the success of the camp.
“It was impressive how the Coach’s from the Country areas embraced our philosophy and quickly gained the respect of the players.
“In the couple of days I attended, the improvement of the players was also evident."
The players are eligible for selection for squads taking part in an international tournament in Fiji in December. FFSA will be taking Under 15 and U17 girls teams and an U13 boys team for the 2015 tournament.
