Playing in this year’s Australian Masters in football are Mark Hundy and Mitch Laginestra, competing in the 50+ division for WaterAid Wanderers.

Hundy has taken part in three Australian Masters Games in 2007, 2011 and 2013, as well as two World Masters Games in 2009 and 2013.

He has also participated in five Pan Pacific Masters games in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. His team won silver at the Australian Masters in 2011, and bronze at the Pan Pacific Masters in 2008.

Meanwhile, Laginestra has taken part in five Australian Masters, competing in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2005 and 2011, playing football in 1997 and 1999 and winning bronze in 1999. Mitch has also competed in the games in other sports such as swimming, tennis and beach volleyball.

He has participated in two World Masters Games in 2009 and 2013 in football, taking fourth place in 2009 and the bronze medal in 2013. Mitch is currently a referee with Football Federation Australia.

In the women’s 40+ division for Bootsnall is Vicki Merris, who has taken part in Masters Games for four years. Vicki started playing football at the highest level in SA at 28 years old and was a board member for the South Australia Women’s Soccer Association.

The Australian Masters Games kick-off Monday 5 October for both football and futsal.
