Masters Games - Women's Finals

In the 30+ women's final, first place Marshene took on third place Flames. Having beaten Flames 6-0 in the group stage, Marshene would have been confident going into the match.

After a quick attack from Marshene, one minute into the game Flames made a tactical error of a pass back that the keeper picked up, leading to a penalty, which Marshene scored. Moments later, Flames conceded a goal when a defensive clearance from a cross went into their own net. Enthused by their early goals, Marshene attacked constantly, giving Flames no room to breathe. Within moments, Marshene scored again after poor defensive overemphasis on the flanks left space through the middle. After a few minutes of a defensive hold against Marshene, Flames were unable to prevent a fourth goal that came in sharply from the flank to the feet of an awaiting striker.

As the game progressed, Flames managed to contain the pressure more effectively, but never looked a serious threat to an overwhelming Marshene side, which soon put a fifth goal away. 4 minutes before half time, Flames managed to score a free kick that rebounded after the keeper initially stopped the shot, bringing the score to 5-1 at the break.

Coming into the second half, Flames made a stronger effort in the middle of the pitch, but Marshene's pace meant trouble any time there was a turnover in possession.

Marshene soon stretched the margin, putting their sixth and seventh away with one on ones against the keeper. Marshene then went up 8-1 after an incredible chip from outside the box, lofting over the keeper. The game ended with strong control from Marshene throughout, who came away with the gold medal.

Final Score: Marshene 8 – 1 Flames

Purplesonic vs Bootsnall 40+ final

Meanwhile, in the 40+ women's final, second place Purplesonic played against Bootsnall. Both teams opened with a balanced attacking outlook, consequently locking the play in the midfield. Purplesonic finally made a breakthrough run, leading to an individual chance against the keeper that curved round to the post and out. The heat during the game made a major impact on the player's stamina, with short, limited runs being made and reducing the chances on the field. The scoring finally opened towards the end of the first half with a brilliant chip from outside the box on the full, putting Purplesonic in the lead. Purplesonic held a slight majority of the possession for the rest of the half, sending the teams into the break with a goal between them.

The second half remained a similar affair much like the first, with some great individual play on both sides keeping the game close. Bootsnall attempted to apply pressure for a last gasp equaliser, but were unsuccessful in the face of strong defending and counter attacking play by Purplesonic, who took away the gold medal in a 1-0 victory.

Final Score: Purplesonic 1 – 0 Bootsnall
