Daniel Cook Appointed to 2016 Cup Final

Football Federation SA (FFSA) referee Daniel Cook will officiate his first Grand Final tomorrow as the Westfield FFA Cup South Australian Qualifying Final between Adelaide Comets and MetroStars takes place at Coopers Stadium.

The PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia referee is excited about the appointment.

“I’m looking forward to the game on Saturday. Finals games are always a highlight for everyone involved and usually bring an unrivalled atmosphere.

“I’m also fortunate enough to have a great team to work with on the game, which makes the whole task easier.”

Cook will be joined by Assistant Referee’s Paul Cetrangolo and Eric Ford, with Rick Schneider as Fourth Official and said that a centre appearance in a Grand Final has always been an aspiration.

“Just like players, we strive to have a season that puts us into Grand Final appointment contention and it’s an honour to be selected.

“We’re lucky in S.A. to have a great support network of instructors, inspectors and fellow referee’s that push us to try and reach our potential and compete for the call up.”

While Hyundai A-League selection is a goal for the future, Cook is firmly dedicated to tomorrow’s game.

“One day I’d  like to be in contention for a place on the A-League, but at the moment I’m just focused on having a good game on Saturday and we’ll see how things go after that.”

FFSA Elite Referee Coach Craig Zetter said that the appointment is deserved.

“The appointment is a result of hard work, dedication and performance and Daniel should be congratulated on his appointment to this showpiece match.”

Football Federation SA congratulates all match officials on their Grand Final appointments.
