The Country State Futsal Talent Identification Championships (CSFTIC) was held recently at the state of the art Central Oval Community Sporting Hub in Pt Augusta.

On display was the best regional futsal talent from across the state with boys and girls competing from U12’s through to U16’s. This year the country futsal championships had an increase in the number of regional teams involved and regional centres represented. 42 matches were played across the day with teams from Jamestown, Roxby Downs, Yorke Peninsula, Port Pirie, Port Augusta and the Adelaide Hills, with an increase of almost 50 regional players participating.

The Country Futsal Championships is not only the first step in the process for selection for the 2017 National Futsal Championships for players, but also provides the opportunity for experienced futsal referees in Andrew Murray and Macro Iammarino to train and develop regional referees. The     standard of futsal on display was very encouraging and the level continues to increase, much as the demand to grow futsal in regional South Australia.

Many players have been identified to participate in the State Futsal Talent Identification Championships to be held in early October, from which teams will be selected for the 2017 FFA Futsal Nationals.
