FFSA Referees appointed to National Panel

FFSA Referees appointed to National Panel

Football Federation SA is pleased to announce 15 match officials have been appointed to the National Panel for the 2011-12 Hyundai A-League, Westfield W-League and National Youth League seasons.

Paul Cetrangolo, Daniel Goodwin, Curtis Wordsworth, Stephen Toth and Regis Queffelec have been appointed to the HAL Panel with 2011 FFSA Coca-Cola Federation Cup Final referee Queffelec selected to the Referee ‘C’ Panel.

“Obviously it’s fantastic news for me and it gives me a chance to show what I can do at a National level,” he said.

“I was fortunate to be able to officiate in the pre-season friendly between Central Coast Mariners and Perth Glory and also Fourth Official for the Hyundai A-League match between Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory.”

Cetrangolo will run the line in his seventh HAL season while Toth will make his national league debut as an assistant referee.

“It’s good to be recognised for your hard work and appointed to the highest competition in the country,” said Toth.

“This is a new beginning for me as it opens the door to an international career sometime in the future.  The whole National Panel is very close and I’m looking forward to working with my friends and colleagues.”

2011 Adelaide Airport Women’s Premier and State Leagues Cup Final referee Stacey Sasopoulos will officiate in the WWL for a second consecutive season while promising officials Ana Nevjestic, Maddison Kennedy and Foti Massinis have also been called up to the WWL Panel.

“Obviously I'm really pleased to have been appointed as a referee for a second season,” said Sasopoulos.

“I'm looking forward to receiving my appointments and am excited for the challenges ahead. Being appointed to the W-League is a big stepping stone towards achieving my goal to become a FIFA official.”

Rick Schneider and Daniel Elder have been appointed to the NYL Panel as referees for their third and second seasons respectively, while Daniel Faulkner, Eric Ford, Christian Verdicchio and Jarrod Muller have also been selected for the 2011-12 campaign.

Muller said he is looking forward to his debut NYL season.

“Obviously I’m pretty excited to have been appointed,” he said.

“Hopefully I have a great season and I’ll be looking to get re-appointed for the next campaign. Obviously the Hyundai A-League is a goal for the future as well.”

FFSA Head Coach of Referees Craig Zetter, FFSA Referees Recruitment and Development Officer Nathan Magill have been selected as Match Official Assessors with veteran SA Referee Wayne Dade re-appointed for a fourth consecutive season.

Zetter said he was pleased with the number of representatives from SA and in particular the next generation.

“To have 15 appointments on the National Panel this season is very pleasing,” he said.

“In terms of the A-League our representation is the same but there is a significant increase with respect to the NYL Panel. It is definitely a positive sign because it means we have plenty of good young referees coming through the system.”
