2013 FFSA State Coaching Conference

Over 80 people attended Football Federation SA’s State Coaching Conference held at Burton Park on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November.

The Coaching Conference was headlined by Football Federation Australia Technical Director Han Berger who opened the weekend with an update on the National Curriculum.

MetroStars head coach and current C Licence holder, Ivan Karlovic noted that it was a good way to start the conference.

“It was a great opportunity to listen to Han Berger talk about the future direction of the game from a coaching perspective.

“The conference also provided the opportunity to improve on our coaching education and refresh on various topics.”

Following a theory session the conference separated in to two groups, those holding an Advanced Licence continued on to do two sessions – The Team Model as an Expression of the National Playing System and Becoming a World Leader in the World Game. Community coaches took part in three sessions, Discovery Phase, Skills Acquisition Program and Game Training - two of which were run by local Premier League players and coaches, Michael Matricciani and Lloyd Owusu.

Day two saw Advanced Licence coaches return for a Model Skills Acquisition Program session, Model Game Training and a Match Analysis leading to a Model Performance Phase Training Session.

Football Federation SA Technical Director Airton Andrioli said he was very happy with the conference and the feedback from local coaches was very positive, which is always encouraging.

“It was fantastic to have Han at our conference reiterating the FFA Vision and Philosophy with a clear and positive message.

“Football will continue to evolve and if we are serious about becoming a ‘World Leader in the World Game’ and taking the game to the next level, we need to be willing to learn.

“Coach education plays a major role in this process. Attending events such as the conference and coach education courses provides great opportunities to be better prepared in order to take football to the next level.”

Advanced Coaches attending both days received 50 points towards their coaching reaccreditation.1
