Adelaide Olympic FC Lachlan Mullen Fundraiser an Outstanding Success

Adelaide Olympic Football Club (AOFC) is pleased to announce that a charity event held at the clubrooms on Saturday, 18th January, 2014, for Lachlan Mullen was an overwhelming success.

Lachlan, a former junior of AOFC and brother of past senior player Tom Mullen, was first diagnosed with cancer in November 2012, and since that time has undergone chemotherapy, brain surgery, heart surgery, and now experimental treatment in Brisbane.

Lachlan Mullen said “Travelling to Brisbane is very expensive, so I approached Adelaide Olympic to host a fundraiser to help cover the costs with travel and accommodation. Immediately, they were more than willing to help out, and went all out to ensure a successful outcome.”

And a successful outcome it was with over 400 people attending and raising over $30,000 which will benefit Lachlan and his family as they travel back and forth to Brisbane to undergo the new treatment.

The fundraising event included a barbecue dinner, raffle, silent auctions, while revellers were entertained by live bands, The Byzantines, Local Revolution and Simply by Chance and DJ’s.

AOFC Chairman Stavros Parissos said “Lachlan’s family has always stood by our club and the club will always stand by the Mullen family. I couldn’t be prouder of the committee and volunteers who made this event unforgettable.”

Football Federation SA and AOFC wishes Lachlan all the very best and hopes that he makes a complete and speedy recovery.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to helping Lachlan fight cancer can contact the club at aofc.com.au or call Lachlan on 0430 323 214.
