Campbelltown City U15's Represent SA in Manchester United Premier Cup Pacific Finals
Campbelltown City’s U15 Mamee Junior Premier League side will travel to Sydney this weekend to compete in the Manchester United Premier Cup Pacific Finals.
The Manchester United Premier Cup is a world wide competition sponsored by the Manchester United Football Club and Nike for 20 Under 15 club football teams, bringing together talented youngsters who have qualified from all over the globe.
The World Finals for the 20 qualifying teams is held in Manchester with the Final played at Old Trafford Stadium as a curtain raiser to the Manchester United first team game. In 2013 the winner was Dinamo Zagreb from Croatia who defeated Inter Milan from Italy.
The South Australian leg of the competition was held from March 7-12 at Burton Park Football Centre with 24 teams competing. Campbelltown City U15’s claimed the Grand Final win following a 1-0 win over West Torrens Birkalla.
Campbelltown City looked to find success in the competition early on, with preparation that started with pre-season training in December 2013. The side notes that bonding as a team and as friends on and off the field played a large part in their performance on the pitch.
The side will face the state winners from across Australia and New Zealand in Sydney in the Pacific Finals, with the winning team from the weekend competition to travel to Manchester for the World Finals from 6-9 August.
The Campbelltown City club was pleased to present the travelling team with a travelling kit including tracksuit and polo shirt to mark the special occasion for the team.
